DATA DEFINITIONS
Data Element Description
CRASH DATE: Date of the crash
TIME: The time at which the crash occurred. (Military time)
REPORT#: The number that identifies the police crash report.
LOCATION: The specific location in which the crash occurred. (Only first 24 characters printed)
COUNTY: Indicates the County where the crash occurred.
CITY: Nearest city to which the crash occurred. (Only first 11 characters printed)
STATE: State in which the crash occurred. See State Abbreviations [Opens in New Window]
INJURY: Total number of persons injured as a result of the crash.
FATAL: Total number of fatalities as a result of the crash..
TOWAWAY: Indicates whether a vehicle involved in the crash was towed away.
SEQUENCE OF EVENTS: The three digit alphabetic code describing the sequence of events of the crash. There can be up to 4 of these codes. (See Sequence of events, below.)
HAZMAT: Indicates if there was any Hazmat involved/released in the crash.
CRASH/VEHICLE NAME: Name of the motor carrier. (First 13 characters are printed)Note: This is an abbreviated version of the carrier ID reported on the crash report. It may differ somewhat from the name and location reported in the Carrier Operations and Safety Ratings report due to reporting variation. If radically different, this may indicate a terminal address, a leased/rented vehicle, or an error.
CITY: City where the Company is located. See Note under Carrier Name.
STATE (CITY): State where the Company is located. See Note under Carrier Name.
VEHICLE LICENSE NUMBER: The numeric, alphanumeric, or alphabetic characters, exactly as displayed, on the plate or tag affixed to the motor vehicle.
STATE (LICENSE STATE): The State/district issuing the license plate of the motor vehicle. See State Abbreviations [Opens in New Window]
DRIVER DRIVER NAME: Name of the driver involved in the crash.
DRIVER LICENSE #: Drivers license of the driver involved in the crash.
STATE (DRIVER LICENSE STATE): State that issued the driver's license. . See State Abbreviations [Opens in New Window]
DRIVER DOB: Driver's date of birth
SEQUENCE OF EVENTS ANL- Collision involving animal
BIK- Collision involving pedal cycle
CGO- Noncollision: Cargo loss or shift
EQF- Noncollision: Failure (Brake failure, blown tire, etc.)
FIR- Noncollision: Explosion or fire
FOB- Collision involving fixed object
JAK- Noncollision: Jackknife
MVH- Collision involving Motor vehicle in transport
NCM- Noncollision: Cross median/centerline
NCO- Noncollision: other
OFR- Noncollision: Ran off road
OOB- Collision involving other moveable object
OTH-Other
OVR- Noncollision: Overturn (Rollover)
PED- Collision involving pedestrian
PVH- Collision involving parked motor vehicle
RUN- Noncollision: Downhill runaway
SEP- Noncollision: Separation of unit
TRN- Collision involving train
UMO- Collision involving unknown movable object
UNK-Noncollision: Unknown
WZE- Collision involving work zone maintenance equipment
